What Is Righteousness?

He justifies the one who has faith in Jesus.  Romans 3:26

Righteousness is revealed to you through Jesus Christ within you and within other believers.  Your sure faith is grounded in your firm belief that Jesus has made you for His good purpose, saved you by His death on the Cross, and He was Resurrected which in turn gives you His cleansing and motivating Power constantly within your soul.   Your interchange of faith activity with others who are alive with Christ enlivens righteousness in our world.

Jesus has ransomed you, bought you back, by dying on the Cross.   Ransomed you from what?  From the despicable power of evil.  In other words, Jesus has bought you, got you, and ought you.  Ought is your response to His marvelous act of salvation on your life.– ought to live each moment in gratitude, ought to be one of the most forgiving and understanding people on this planet, and ought to draw your motivation from His guidance with your trust.

We live in ought moments, and when we fail to do as we ought then in humility we recover our sure faith in Him through confession as He reclaims our hearts with His mercy and forgiveness.  Our goal is that we ‘be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my (our) own … but one that comes through faith of Christ, the righteousness from God based on faith.’ Philippians 3:9
