God Your Way

Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you.  Go your way, and from now on do not sin again.”  John 8:11

This Scripture passage documents the woman caught in adultery, about to be stoned by the scribes and pharisees sure of the Mosaic Law: ‘If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death (Leviticus 20:10).  Some would ask, where is the adulterous man?  Perhaps he is dead already, or slipped away in the night and they have not found him yet to stone him also, or it may be that the scribes and Pharisees are not charging him with the same Mosaic Law for some reason.

They have brought this woman into the temple where Jesus is teaching and they somewhat cleverly ask Jesus to defy Mosaic Law.  Their attention is focused on the fact that Jesus is more interested in the poor, the sinner, the downtrodden and the wayward soul; and rightfully so, He has come to give salvation!  Yet, isn’t it also easy for some  religious folk to imply to the sinner today that we are religious and you are not?  Better it would be for to offer Jesus Christ’s salvation in open and honest truth.

So shall we gang up on others with Christ’s forgiveness and words of salvation?  ‘Intervention’ so to speak.  Let us look at what Jesus does for the adulterous woman.  He who was sinless and perfect humanity offers her His forgiveness.   This forgiveness has His Power within it to correct the soul, to right the wrong, and to save a life.  Holy Spirit forgiveness power.   Consider your greatest sin and remember the relief when you were quenched with His forgiveness to not sin again.  You are in the life-saving Business with Christ.  God your way and be about your heavenly Father’s work.
