Then they said to Him, “Where is your father?”  Jesus answered, “You know neither Me nor My Father.  If you knew Me, you would know My Father also.”  John 8:19

Folks are listening to Jesus teach in the Women’s Court (which is where the temple treasury is held).  This is where they brought the woman caught in adultery and Jesus said, “Let anyone without sin be the first to throw a stone at her” and, woman “Neither do I condemn you.  Go your way, and from now on do not sin again.”  In our Scripture today the Pharisee (who does not believe in Resurrection) asks Jesus about his birth father.

Jesus invites the Pharisee to get to know Him.  Jesus’ authority and teaching source is God, His Heavenly Father and our Heavenly Father, with whom He is one.  So, those who are questioning Jesus with doubts are not only not listening to Jesus, they are not listening to God.  Had they been listening to Jesus the Savior they would hear God through Him, as it is the same today.  The Way to listen is through Jesus Christ.

In Luke 9:35 GOD SPEAKS out of heaven to those around Jesus saying, “‘This is My Son, My Beloved, listen to Him!”  Jesus’ Dad is God and you are the adopted child of God because of your faith in Jesus Christ.  Your act of faith is to listen to Jesus Christ.   Your work of faith is to do what Jesus does, speak what Jesus speaks, and love like Jesus loves.  It’s simple really.  Listen to Him. We are His family, together in Jesus Christ!
