Jesus says, “Very truly I tell you, whoever keeps My word will never see death.  John 8:54

They had been waiting for the days when the Messiah would come and walk this beautiful earth as they knew from Old Testament prophesy that the Heavenly Father had a Grand Plan, yet they had to be tuned into God in order to recognize the Son who brought salvation.  God was helping believers to recognize Jesus yet it was up to each individual, on their own, to take Him into their hearts and become keepers of Jesus’ word.

It is the very same way today.  We can count on God to do the prompting in our friend’s heart, prompting to yield to Jesus, yet it is up to them to repent and believe in Jesus Christ and they too will never see death (have life eternal in glorious heaven)!

There are two things to do.  Prayerfully wait and stand firm.  Paul says, ‘Only, live your life in a manner worthy of the Gospel Of Christ, .. standing firm in One Spirit, striving side by side with one mind for the Faith Of The Gospel.’  Philippians 1:27.   For ours is a privilege, to have firm faith in Christ as we are keepers of Christ’s word.
