Tell Others About This Gift

Mary took a pound of costly perfume made of pure nard, anointed Jesus’ feet, and wiped them with her hair.  John 12:3

Imagine having Jesus the beloved Son of God as an overnight guest at your home, staying for days and sometimes weeks at a time.  You and your sister and your brother have ample opportunity to sit and just listen to the ‘God talk’ that He does and before this there has never been such powerful loving Peace in your home.  When He speaks it is God speaking and when He looks at you there is such a tremendous connection to who you are — that you have been wonderfully made; you are righted in Him.

Now, while Jesus the Lord is away preaching and teaching in other towns your brother gets so ill he dies.  You send word to beloved Jesus, yet He does not arrive back home in time to heal your brother, he dies.  Your faith is strong, yet the question foremost in your mind is, ‘Why did He not come swiftly home to heal your brother?’  You go out to meet Him as you hear the words, “He is coming.”  Meeting Him, He tells you He is the Resurrection and your brother’s death has occurred so that God will be glorified.  He Resurrects your brother who was dead in the tomb, stinky.

This is thrilling!  And now He is going to die next, a gross death which He has explained clearly.  How can you lovingly thank Him?  Your sister has the idea for the Gift.  She takes the extremely costly perfume oil and gives Him holy anointing for His death.  Then He goes through His own death to give believers victory over true evil, He will have the fragrance of your family love during it all.

Truly I tell you, wherever this Good News is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will be told in remembrance of her.”  Matthew 26:13
