Baptism

Peter said to them, “Repent and be Baptized every one of you in the Name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the Promise is for you, for your children and for all who are far away, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to Him.” Acts 2:38-39

Holy Baptism is the action that you trust God to forgive your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Baptism is for all ages of people. We Baptize our babies so that they are brought into right relationship with God the Heavenly Father and so that they will be led from infancy by the Holy Spirit to live in Jesus Christ’s love, grace, and guidance. There is no greater blessing you can give to your children than to Baptize them and then teach them the life of Jesus from the Scriptures.

From Old Testament times, as those who were led by the one True God were obedient, so too we are given the Promise of the Holy Spirit when we repent and turn to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. In an Old Testament witness Samuel says, “Speak, Lord, for Your servant hears.” (1Samuel 3:9) In a New Testament witness Thomas says to Jesus Resurrected, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28) All of God is revealed in Jesus Christ and the Promise of full forgiveness along with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit into our hearts is through repentance and Baptism.

By the Holy Spirit’s indwelling in your soul you have Jesus Christ alive to depend upon. This causes you to see and understand Christ’s Way in you and in the world. Trust in what Jesus calls the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit. Spirit speaks within your being to reveal what Scripture says, what God is doing, and uplifts your witness to God’s Son actively correcting your failures, faults, and flaws. In the Name of Jesus Christ you can do all things.
