Then the high priest took action; he and all who were with him (that is, the sect of the Sadducees), being filled with jealousy, arrested the apostles and put them in the public prison. But during the night an Angel of the Lord opened the prison doors, brought them out, and said, “Go, stand in the temple and tell the people the whole message about this Life.” When they heard this, they entered the temple at daybreak and went on with their teaching. Acts 5:17-21
Jealousy in the Sadducees leads the persecution of Christians now. (Formerly, the Pharisees led the persecution of Jesus.) The Good News of Jesus Christ’s Resurrection must get to the hearts of those in all walks of life and Peter preaches the Resurrection as disciple John confirms believer’s into Jesus. Our Heavenly Father sends an Angel to free them from prison and instructs them to go back to His people (the Gentiles, the Jews, the seekers) and affirms the Holy Spirit will fill new believer’s hearts.
The new believers learn of the everlasting Life in Jesus which begins the moment one accepts Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Those in the temple are there waiting with expectation, hope, and the need for Jesus. Expectation and the Spirit’s outpouring comes to every gathering of believers who expectantly worship and adore Jesus Christ. To learn about and use Jesus Christ’s Life giving words and Presence cause the believers to rejoice as He permanently enters their lives.
The Apostles go on with their Resurrection teaching as the Spirit strengthens and assures them, entering the temple at daybreak. Daybreak speaks to their discovery that the tomb was empty and Jesus Christ Resurrected defeated death, stomped on evil’s head, and gloriously sparks up the Light of His Presence in believer’s hearts. Be assured by the Spirit that Christ’s Presence is yours to guard you from jealousy and evil as you are instructed here to stand and tell of Life in Christ’s compassionate Love.
