As they were. Going along the road, they came to some water; and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water! What is to prevent me from being Baptized?” He commanded the chariot to stop, and both of them, Philip and the eunuch, went down into the water, and Philip Baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; the eunuch saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing. Acts 8:36-39
As a new Christian you must be born again. For it is by New Birth in Christ that you are adopted into His family. So, led by the Spirit Philip comes to clarify Scripture about Jesus Christ, the eunuch confesses his sins and takes Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and then their attention is on the water by the road.
The man asks, “What is to prevent me from being Baptized?” Nothing. Thus prompted by the Spirit both go down to stand beside the small pool of water. The man renounces the spiritual forces of evil, announces to his great number of attendants that he gives his life forever in obedience to his One Savior and Lord Jesus Christ Resurrected, and Philip pours water, “In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,” as he is Holy Spirit washed of sin and unrighteousness.
There is Rejoicing!
What’s next for the man? My friend, the Born Again Christian does ‘Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints.’ Ephesians 6:18. Born Again, you naturally engage in continual humble requests and dialogue with our Lord in prayer. I’m praying for you as you read this that the Holy Spirit anoint you with Christ’s New Birth, and a sign that you have New Birth is continual prayer.
