As to His raising Him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, He has spoken in this way, ‘I will give you the Holy promises made to David.’ Therefore He has also said in another Psalm, ‘You will not let Your Holy One experience corruption.’ For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, experienced corruption; but He whom God Raised up experienced no corruption. Acts 13:34-37
Paul explains the significance of the death and Resurrection of Jesus. Through Jesus Savior, the perfect One among our corrupted selves, all of the Promises made to David have been fulfilled. Jesus of Nazareth is THE incorruptibly Holy Son of God. Jesus is perfect in love and compassion for you. In Jesus Resurrected all may now see, know, and experience who God IS.
Yet as Paul speaks and the Holy Spirit is guiding his thoughts and words, he understands that some or perhaps all of his listeners previously have interpreted Psalm 16:10 as solely applicable to David. Paul points out that because of corruption, after David had served the purpose of God in his own generation, David died of corruptions.
Jesus of Nazareth did not die. God arose Him from the grave and He ascended to heaven on the third day to sit at the right hand of God. Jesus was not and is not corrupted. He is the One without sin who takes on your sins and suffers on the Cross and dies in your place because of His love for you. Christ victorious conquered evil. He gives you new life in His transforming born again gift the moment you take Him as Savior and Lord.
