Derbe

After they had proclaimed the Good News to that city [Derbe] and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, then on to Iconium and Antioch. Acts 14:21

Friends, it is a miracle categorized one under Christ’s Resurrection that Paul and Silas got up from the stoning/beating they experienced in Lystra and then give Good News witness in Derbe. They are surely revived by Christ, Holy Spirit enabled, and have purpose driven enthusiasm to continue preaching, thriving, and traveling.

After the beating in Lystra, where many accepted Christ and His miracles occurred, they were left for dead because their mean persecutors believed them dead. It was in Lystra, probably after sunset, an enraged multitude took as large stones as they could lift to do damage to their heads. Then they’re pummeled with rocks until all movement is gone.

They’re dragged and dropped outside Lystra, done for. Yet it’s not finished for these two! Christ revives them! I believe Christ Resurrected them. They got up, continued preaching, testifying, and witnessing to God’s goodness and love!

Look how Paul speaks of his Lystra death and Resurrection experience in 2 Corinthians 12:2-4 writing: I know a person in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know; God knows. And I know that such a person—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know; God knows—. was caught up into Paradise and heard things that are not to be told, that no mortal is permitted to repeat.

Blessed Assurance, Paul had seen eternity with the Saints! And many receive salvation in Derbe.
