Crispus, the official of the synagogue, became a believer in the Lord, together with all his household; and many of the Corinthians who heard Paul became believers and were baptized. One night the Lord said to Paul in a vision, “Do not be afraid, but speak and do not be silent; for I am with you, and no one will lay a hand on you to harm you, for there are many in this city who are my people.”  He stayed there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them. Acts 18:8-11

In the large city of Corinth Paul has just left the synagogue and goes next door to the home of Justus to preach. He is probably still rooming with Aquila and Priscilla. In Justus’ home they become Christians, including the official of the synagogue Crispus and his family, and are Baptized.

One night the Lord tells Paul, “… I am with you,…” and do not fear all the learning/ do not fear all the politeness and grandeur/ do not fear the power that the people in the city appear to have. “There are many in this city who are my people,” the Lord says, and that’s a prophetic call to evangelistic preaching for Paul. As he preaches Holy Spirit will make new Christians by lifting hearts to Jesus and they will receive Baptism.

Some may read this and say then the revival time for new preaching is a year and six months, yet it is for our Lord to decide the timing. Paul has and is being directed by Spirit as to where to go and how long to stay in one place. Holy Spirit is softly speaking within our hearts to lead us also. Jesus says, “Do not be afraid.” All others in our lives who do not know Christ need to be called into His Presence now, so the abundant life will be theirs too. Do not wait nor hesitate. Now, speak for Christ.
