Forgive Like Jesus

So the chief priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the council, and said, “What are we to do?  This man is performing many signs.  If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and destroy both our holy place and our nation.”  Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all!  You do not understand that it is better for you to have one man die for the people than to have the whole nation destroyed.”  John 11:47-48, 49b

Apostle John writes that Caiaphas was prophesying that Jesus is about to die for the nation; an unconscious prophesy.  Truly, Jesus does die yet not only for the nation of Israel but also for each person, whether or not they are of the nation, who believes in Him and who repents and gives their life to Him.  This is God’s Plan that His Son give His life as a ranson for many, for you.

Jesus was later arrested after He initiated Holy Communion and servant foot washing with the disciples.  There was a mock trial at night, He was whipped and beaten within an inch of His life, tortured, and the Son of God was verbally and physically treated with maximum cruelty to die on what we now hold dear and sacred, the Cross.   From the Cross He said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.”

He forgives and like Him so do we.  Does someone else know how much they are hurting you?  Probably not.  So how can you use your faith in Christ to heal the hurting, remove the hurting, and live on with confidence and believer’s abundant life?  How do you correct the situation?  Forgive like Christ.  Except in the instances of sexual abuse, this is the Way to healing and recovery.  You are a forgiver.  This is who you are.
