How Jesus Is Victorious

Then Pilate took Jesus and had Him flogged. And the soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and they dressed Him in a purple robe. They kept coming up to Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and striking Him on the face. Pilate went out again and said to them, “Look, I am bringing Him out to you to let you know that I find no case against Him.

So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!” When the chief priests and the police saw Him, they shouted, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” Pilate said to them, “Take Him yourselves and crucify Him; I find no case against Him.” The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and according to that law he ought to die because He has claimed to be the Son Of God.” Now when Pilate heard this, he was more afraid than ever. John 19:1-7

Pilate has Jesus flogged, beaten to a pulp so that He is unrecognizable, then Pilate brings Him out to them in bloodied disfigurement to show them His suffering and whines that he ‘finds no case against Him.’ When they first brought Him to Pilate, Pilate may have released innocent Jesus or released Him at any time! This miscarriage of justice, including all that were a part of putting the Son Of God up for crucifixion, shows to us evil which has gripped hearts through their choices to participate in murdering Him.

As was prophesied in Genesis 3, satan would work in the souls of people to bruise the heal of woman’s seed [Jesus]. Hebrews 2:14 illuminates this darkness of evil by reminding us that Jesus Son Of God will destroy evil’s ace card — death, ‘… so that through death He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is satan. Because Jesus dies for you, as evil ones propel Him to the Cross, at His death then evil will no longer have its hold on your soul forever. Clearly Jesus Christ has victory over anything evil deals Him. As He is victoriously alive in your soul. Jesus says, “Remember I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20

evil says, “Here is the man.” We His Church say, ‘Here is the beloved Son Of God victorious in all things!’
